CANCELLED – Annual Dinner and Awards Evening 9th February.

Unfortunately we are going to have to cancel the Annual Dinner and reschedule it. This year we experienced difficulties in promoting the event. The Cycling UK website has changed and it took some time to get an email to all members. The Facebook announcement did not appear properly until it was clicked on and a number of people have said they didn’t see it.

There is support for an annual event at a different time of the year perhaps in April or October and with a simple supper meal such as pie and peas.

Annual Dinner and Awards Evening 2024

7.00 pm on Friday 9th February 2024
Broad Oak Bowling Club, Hazel Grove, Linthwaite, Huddersfield. HD7 5TE

The 2024 awards evening will be held again at the Broad Oak Bowling Club. I do hope you can join us this year for the dinner and presentation of awards. It is an excellent opportunity to catch up with your cycling friends. Please try and bring something for the raffle, cycling related or not. Unwanted Christmas presents are always welcome!

We will again have an auction of cycling gear that you may want to sell and there is no auctioneer’s commission!

The cost of the dinner is just £15 and we have the same excellent caterers. Please select your menu choices by following this link: https://www.huddersfieldctc.org.uk/menu – Lamb hotpot is the favourite for the main course and trifle is the dessert favourite.

Please send your payment as soon as possible and no later than Monday 29th January 2024 by bank transfer to the Club. If you do not already have the club bank details, then follow this link to find the payment page on the Huddersfield CTC website: https://www.huddersfieldctc.org.uk/payment-details. If you are unable to make the payment by electronic transfer contact the Secretary, Peter Charnley.

Something a little different – Charity fundraiser – Maggie’s Gran Fondo

Cancer care charity Maggie’s have been in touch with us about their cycling event aimed at raising money for their Maggie’s Centres.

Maggie’s Centres offer practical and emotional support to people with any type of cancer, at any stage, for free. We receive no government funds and rely on the generosity of our supporters.

Our focus is offering support to people with cancer and their families on things that really make a difference, such as financial worries, help with managing stress and anxiety as well as the side-effects of treatment and much more. Understanding every person’s individual circumstances is central to what we do and means we can guide them to the support that will help them the most.

We have launched a new cycling activity as part of our charity partnership with the UCI cycling world championships this year. We would love it if your group/club members could get involved.
