Trivets 100 mile ride Sunday 12th June 2022

Are you over 50 and want a challenge? It is 3 years since the last Huddersfield CTC Trivets (tri-annual ride for veterans) in 2019. A lot has changed since those pre-Covid days but the Trivets remains the same. We are using the route devised by the late John Radford, former Chairman of the Huddersfield CTC.

For those who ride around Huddersfield and think that 100 miles is a bit much then do think again. John’s route is much kinder. I would describe the few hills as slopes really. It is very different countryside to the hills we are familiar with. You will be riding from near Castleford onto the flood plains of the River Aire and Ouse.
The start and end of the ride will be at Fairburn Old Church Hall on Silver Street, Fairburn, WF11 9JA, near Castleford. Parking is available at the Church Hall.

This is a led ride of 2 loops. The roads are quiet B roads in the main with approximately 10 miles on A roads. The start is at 8:00am and there will be a morning café stop, at about 10:40am for 20 minutes, a second stop will be in Selby at 1:00pm and lunch will be in the Fairburn Old Church Hall between 2:30pm and 3:30pm. Sandwiches can be bought en-route in Selby or bring a packed lunch with you. Tea and coffee will be available in the hall. The second shorter loop of 42 miles starts after the lunch break. The afternoon stop of 20 minutes is at a riverside pub in Cawood after 21 miles. The last 21 miles takes us back to Fairburn Old Church Hall for 8:00pm.
The ride will have leaders and back up riders so that no one will be left behind.

Participants should make sure that their bikes are roadworthy and should carry a spare inner tube, tyre levers and cycle pump. Ride leaders will be there to help in case of a mechanical breakdown.

There is a £6 entry fee payable that will help to pay for the hire of the hall.
